Gumeracha Barbera

Gumeracha Barbera

$40.00

SC Pannell

Stephen’s obsession with Piedmont continues with the under-appreciated Barbera. Naturally less tannic than it’s regal cousin Nebbiolo but high acidity and deep colour makes it a similary cellar-worthy wine. Barbera and Nebbiolo have long forgotten origins and grow in the same area of Italy, Piedmont. Often planted on the opposite or inferior hillside to Nebbiolo, Barbera reaches it’s zenith around the town of Asti where the fruit sweetness is allowed to shine through. With time the fruit gives way to a charcuturie, savoury character, further enhancing complexity and offering true versatility in food matching, though Stephen always finds it hard to resist the holy trinity of tomatoes, garlic and olives!

  • Varietal - Barbera
  • Size - 750mL
  • Alcohol Volume - 14%
